First hint: each witness is described, not named. Match the three lines of Nardo’s note to the small italic captions under the place names.
Second hint: a crossing where every road changes name. A well with a double echo. A cypress with no row. Cross their gazes — the answer is where the three sightlines meet, and the map will show you.

The old wash-house at Fonte Fredda — il vecchio lavatoio. Cold water, colder stone, and a cellar the women stopped using when the pump came in 1936. “The water keeps her.” Bring a lamp.
